The second part of this painting took much longer, in fact it was one of those paintings that I couldn’t leave alone, I kept adding bit’s and then lifting off bits and then adding more. It was hard to know when it was finished…
the other one

This first stage of the other painting that was accepted, was done fairly quickly and I forgot to take any earlier photos. It was painted on a very textured, very wrinkly piece of hand-made watercolour paper I bought abut 25 years ago, which I stretched after it was finished.

This is the finished version, it’s fairly large for a watercolour, 55cm x 75cm. It’s not really meant to be an accurate likeness as I’ve played around with the proportions of some of the features. What do you think?

I found out today that two of my paintings have been accepted! It’s great because they are relatively large pictures…I would have been pleased if just one had got through. Here’s the first stage of one of the accepted ones.
